When is the Perfect Time for New Boiler Installation or Replacement?

Is your boiler not working as it should?  You might have to consider getting it replaced. Boilers that don’t produce much heat, drips, loses pressure constantly or makes loud noises are often not very efficient. If your boiler is over ten years old there might really be no way around other than new boiler installation. It is recommended that your replace your old unit with a new one that has a Grade A efficiency rating in order to save money in the long run. Fortunately, grants are available to low-income families to offset the costs of a new boiler.

Boiler installation, however, is not something you can do yourself. By law since 2009, installations have to be carried out by registered Gas Safe engineers only. The engineer also has to install the boiler according to building regulations and the Gas Safety Installation and Use manual. This is done in order to ensure the safety of the home and its inhabitants since a faulty installation can be hazardous to health.

Most homes now have a gas combination boiler or 'combi' which has many advantages. It can fit into small spaces and is relatively easier to install. These, however, may not be suitable for larger homes, particularly ones with more than one bathroom, as there may be insufficient pressure if two appliances are used at the same time. More traditional boilers may also be needed for solar heating systems.

Ideally, plan to replace your boiler during the summer months but if you need emergency boiler installation, you need not hesitate in calling in the professionals. Remember that local independent installers from companies like LB Plumbing & Heating can be up to a third cheaper than having the work done by large gas companies.
